Islamic religion is rapidly on the increase in the world. Today, it is the world second largest religion after Christianity and the first in terms of growth. There has been great speculation and debate by different religions and believers as a whole about the possibility of a Muslim Antichrist.

Writings by individuals like Joel Richardson have sought to suggest that the next Antichrist will arise from the Islamic culture. However, other writers are strongly opposed to the idea to this idea and maintain that he will be of western origin as the bible has been interpreted for many years. Therefore, the debate has degenerated into two major arguments;whether he will be from the west or of Islamic origin.

To sufficiently understand this argument, deep understanding of the happenings in the Middle East is paramount. Various authoritarian regimes have in the recent past been toppled from power in Middle East countries. Colonel Gaddafi was removed from power after more than thirty years in power. Similar incidences were experienced in Egypt, Syria and Tunisia where powerful heads of state have forced to relinquish power after decades of authoritarianism. Most of these former leaders have been executed or put into custody.

The revolts in these particular countries were led by the Muslim Brotherhood which lay claim to being the Arab leadership. The maintain goal of this group is to establish an international caliphate. This means the establishment of a centralized Islamic rule. An attainment of this fete is believed to bring wealth and great power to these people. This will then help in the actualization of their dream of having an Islam Caliphate that will spread across the world hence paving way for him. Many are of the view that Islam growth beyond borders is real.

The brotherhood strongly believes that the destruction of Israel and the United States will be a step towards the great revolution that will see the whole world convert into Islam. They hold the belief that their Mahdi (messiah figure) is the one to lead the grand caliphate.

Conflicts have however emerged regarding the rise of their messiah (Mahdi). Some Muslims believe that he will be elected by various Muslim government representatives while others are of the view that he will come from the lineage of Allah and shall appear from a secret place he has been living for many years.

This belief has made some in the west believe that this Mahdi will fulfill what is contained in the bible about the coming of an Antichrist. Many in the western societies have started to believe this, and so have Christians. They take that this supernatural being is the one talked about in the bible that will come and deceive the Jewish people he is the true messiah that the Christian community has long awaited.

Many across the world have argued that Islam is inevitably growing stronger and unified and their leadership has seen this as a sign of realization of their ultimate goal. Its infiltration of Europe, the United States and other parts of the world has set forth the belief that Islam will be victorious in the globe and hence the thought their messiah (Mahdi) is the much proclaimed Antichrist from the Muslim community.
