Jamie Lee Curtis started her acting career screaming in horror films. This daughter of Janet Leigh, who screamed in the movie Psycho, and Tony Curtis, has written a string of delightful books for kids. A favorite is My Mommy Hung The Moon. A number of other famous actors became celebrity childrens book authors.

Julianne Moore takes a big leap out of the horror films to writing Freckleface Strawberry, which is intended to glorify freckles rather than wish you did not have them. Everyone enjoys Steve Martin off screen in Late For School. Kristi Yamaguchi wrote Dream Big, Little Pig.

Katie Couric, news announcer and television host, wrote about soccer games and named the characters after her daughters. Julie Andrews seems to be the appropriate actress to write about fairy princesses. When Jim Carreys story of How Roland Rolls came out, it immediately had children and parents alike rolling on the floor in laughter.

There are countless Christmas books, but, how about a dynamite one for Halloween. Jerry Seinfeld writes about candy and pumpkins in the book named for that holiday, Halloween. Singers Jewel, Gloria Estefan and Sting continue the trend of celebrities as authors.

There are many who come from the background of comedy. Jay Leno is one and Ricky Gervais another. The book, Sheetzucacapoopoo My Kind Of Dog is the product of Joy Behar, former host on The View.

Most of these celebrities gather ideas and material for their books from their own children. In the role of parent there is much comedic content. Pets take a close second place as sources.

The ever-popular Dr. Seuss books lead the pack of favorites that rhyme. Following in his footsteps is Steve Martin. Little children want to hear these read over and over again.

Words are fascinating, especially when they rhyme for children. But that is not the only appealing feature in these books. Wonderful illustrations cover the pages to delight the little ones.

Whoopie Goldberg, Jeff Foxworthy and other comedians, big television and movie stars, have fertile minds for childrens books. It is easy to understand their creativity. It is not as easy to understand when they find time to write books.

Bill Cosby is a natural author with his doctorate in education. Amy Carter, who wrote, The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleeier, once lived in the White House when her father Jimmy Carter was President of the United States.

Read All About It came from the imagination of Jenna Bush who also was a resident of that dwelling when her father George Bush held that office. Plus we have The Duchess of York, bringing a title from across the pond called Tea For Ruby. More royalty including Queen Latifa have contributed.

However, probably the most auspicious author on the list is current President Barack Obama. He wrote a beautiful tear jerker, Of Thee I Sing. He brings to the attention of his daughters, tributes to thirteen notables from the annals of history. Again, we wonder, when did he or any of these famous authors find the time.
